Most Korean drama troupe is usually girl meets boy, girl falls madly, deeply in love with boy and guess what? She’s a weakling that needs saving (Playful kiss) but sometimes, we see strong female leads who are giving their male counterparts a run for their money. There’s some of them.
1). Secret Garden
One of my favourite dramas to watch. Secret garden follows a stunt woman Gil Ra-im and a high end department store CEO played by Ha Ji-won and Hyun-Bin respectively. Not only is she a stunt woman (which is awesome) she also gave him a run for his money.
2). The Greatest Marriage
The greatest marriage follows Cha Ki-young played by Park Si-yeon as a strong, smart, capable popular news anchorwoman who wants a baby but without the marriage. After dating a young chef from a wealthy family, she got pregnant. Despite all the troubles she faced from everyone, from the child’s father family, to her job, to the public, she stood up with her head held high.
3). A Korean Odyssey
Have you ever been able to see ghosts since you were a child? Were you ever tricked into releasing an imprisoned monkey king? This all happened to Jin Seon-mi played by Oh Yeon-seo . She has been able to see ghosts since she was little and with nothing but a yellow umbrella to protect her. She even went as far as buying properties that are haunted. If that’s not brave, I don’t know what is.
4). Oh My Venus
Kang Joo-eun used to be so beautiful so beautiful until she hits her adulthood then she puts on some weight (please forgive the offensive, unconvincing fat suit). Even though she’s consider no longer attractive, she became a big shot lawyer and worked her butt off to loose the weight. FYI, have you ever tried loosing weight? Am trying. Emphasis on trying.
5). Strong Woman Do Bong Soon
It’s in the name. A tiny woman Do Bong-soon played by actress Park Yo-yoing. She was born with extraordinary strength.
